West Yorkshire Police is creating a £20m regional support centre at Calder Business Park in Wakefield. The organisation has bought an 80,000 sq ft office unit from developers Peel at the site at J39 off the M1. Work will start before the end of 2009, and the facility is expected to be ready for occupation in 2011.
Robin Beagley, head of WSB Property Consultants, which is joint agent with Savills on the scheme, said: "This is the largest and most significant deal to happen in Wakefield in over a decade and is a reflection that we are starting to see signs of improvement in sentiment from business in the area."
