COMMERCIAL AGENT ADOPTS TECHNOLOGY TO ENABLE VIRTUAL VIEWINGS

30 APRIL 2020

As the majority of industries have moved to remote working during the COVID-19 outbreak, businesses are having to make fundamental changes to their everyday processes.

For commercial real estate, that means that property tours are not always possible, but leases continue to expire, and space decisions need to be made. In response to the current lockdown which restricts companies abilities to physically view office space, independent chartered surveyors WSB Property Consultants LLP have produced virtual 3D tours of a number of the office buildings they are currently marketing, enabling prospective occupiers to view space options remotely.

Robin Beagley, Partner at WSB commented “despite the current lockdown there are still businesses with time-critical lease events such as break options and lease expiries that are driving demand for space, or from companies forward planning to either up or downsize. These companies need the ability view property options remotely and safely, the virtual tours enable them to do this”

The advancement of 3D technology has enabled the production of accurate models of properties giving prospective occupiers a clear understanding of exactly what it’s like to be inside a space allowing office seekers to navigate spaces and walk through them as if physically present.

Duncan Senior, Partner at WSB added “While there’s nothing like experiencing a space in person, virtual tours have come a long way and offer a close equivalent. At WSB we have tried to address the current restrictions by giving occupiers another conduit to view properties to enable forward planning for when restrictions are lifted”
